Penthouse renovation in Vida Residences, Dubai Marina

Vida Marina is one of those projects where virtually nothing of the original apartment remained except the structure.

Full reconstruction: new layout, engineering and higher ceilings

It was originally a four-bedroom penthouse with a closed kitchen. As part of a full reconstruction, we completely changed the layout and turned it into a spacious three-bedroom penthouse with a large open kitchen–living–dining area.

We carried out a complete demolition, built new walls, and fully redid the air-conditioning and ventilation system, the electrics and the waterproofing. Across almost the entire apartment we were able to raise the ceilings by about a metre, which completely changed the feel of the space.

A separate part of the project is the large terrace. Here we replaced the flooring, prepared the plumbing connections and installed an outdoor jacuzzi.

Bespoke furniture made for this penthouse

There are virtually no standard furniture solutions in the interior. The kitchen, bar, TV zone, wardrobes, wall panels, storage systems and furniture were all custom-made to drawings specifically for this penthouse.

For example, in the living room we created a TV zone with a 77-inch TV, a built-in electric fireplace and floating glass shelves. In the kitchen we integrated every appliance — from the coffee machine and oven to the fridge and freezer. There is a separate bar with a wine fridge and lighting.

Lighting and smart-home system

We paid particular attention to light: magnetic tracks, spots, decorative fixtures and a large amount of hidden LED lighting are integrated into the furniture, wall panels, mirrors, shelves and wardrobes.

A smart-home system runs throughout the apartment. Lighting, climate, built-in audio and appliances can all be controlled centrally from a smartphone or from tablets placed in the rooms.

The entire project — from demolition and engineering systems to finishing, bespoke furniture and final furnishing — was delivered with a full package of permits.
